Cornerstone Chemical Company is thrilled to share the extraordinary success of our latest environmental initiative in collaboration with LSU Athletics.
During the SEC rival showdown between LSU and Florida football game on November 11, 2023, our joint venture achieved a record-breaking feat: collecting 21,538 recyclable items, weighing in at 1,370.83 pounds.
This milestone, part of the GameDay Recycling Challenge and America Recycles Day, is just one of our many sustainability initiatives throughout Louisiana.
In the GameDay Recycling Challenge, universities across the nation compete to recycle the highest amount of waste during their home football matches. This year, we sponsored LSU's recycling efforts, placing bins across the campus and in Tiger Stadium for the November home game.
With the help of LSU Sustainability, student groups like Geaux Green, the Society of Wetland Scientists, and the Water Brigades, joined together to play an instrumental role in our success, assisting in the sorting and recording of recyclables. Staff from the Osprey Initiative, a specialty environmental consultant, also joined our initiative to support a greener and cleaner Louisiana.
The recycling process ended at the Baton Rouge Coca-Cola facility, where collected items were repurposed into reusable bottles, contributing to a circular economy.
Cornerstone Chemical Company has been a proud partner of LSU Athletics since 2021, collaborating on several sustainability and Baton Rouge recycling efforts. We're immensely proud of this latest record-breaking success and extend our heartfelt thanks to all who made it possible.
