Cornerstone statement regarding the status of the plant following Hurricane Zeta

Published:   October 29, 2020

The following is a statement from Cornerstone regarding the status of the plant following Hurricane Zeta.

On Oct. 28 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Cornerstone Energy Park experienced a site-wide electrical outage due to a failure in our electrical supplier’s equipment as inclement weather caused by Hurricane Zeta impacted our area. Hurricane Zeta made landfall on Oct. 28 between 4 and 4:30 p.m. with winds of 110 mph causing widespread power outages across southeast Louisiana.

After losing electricity, Cornerstone’s Emergency Management Team immediately notified all appropriate officials and agencies. At this time, we do not have information from our electricity supplier on how long it will take to restore electricity to the facility.

All personnel are accounted for. There are no reported safety incidents. Damage assessment is currently underway at our Waggaman, Louisiana facility. Our primary focus is always on the safety and security of our employees, the community and the environment in which we operate.

Cornerstone will provide additional updates regarding its progress toward resuming normal plant operations following Hurricane Zeta.
